FAQ Red Iguana Practice Hands
Insert the tip into the cuticle pocket as deep as you can – the hand is ready to be used immediately. For example, you can practice nail art in this way. Just remove the tip from the cuticle pocket and add a new one when you are done. You can save the finished tips and attach them to your hand later if you wish.
If you want to make the nail more stable, use Red Iguana’s “Silicone Primer” and apply to the nail beds and then use the glue “Gorilla Glue Gel” (important that you use this specific glue!). Insert the tip into the pocket of the cuticle as deep as you can. Apply a small amount of glue between the tip and the silicone finger and gently push the tip down onto the nail bed. Hold for 30-60 seconds. Make sure to remove the excess glue if it runs out on the cuticles. Then let it dry for about 5-10 minutes, you are then ready to start using your hand again. This technique is perfect if you want to practice gel or acrylic application as you can file on the nail without it having it flying off the finger.
We recommend that you add a “safety layer” with for example gel on the tip so you don’t accidentally file through the tip when it’s time to remove the material (you remove the material just like your would with a real customer / person), but if you would rather like to soak the material (acrylic) off, give it enough time – the tip needs to be dissolved deeply under the cuticle zone (silicone does not dissolve in acetone). Repeat previous steps to attach new tips.
If you accidentally damage the silicone hand, scratch the cuticle or the sides, you can fix it with “Devcon Silicone Adhesive” or “Sil-Poxy” by “Smooth-On”. Just apply a small amount of glue to the damaged area and allow it to dry completely.
If your hand gets dirty from dust, glitter / chrome pigments etc., just wash it with a little bit of soap in warm water. You can use a soft brush to remove chrome and glitter / flakes.
All tips here at Moonflair are compatible with the hand.
The posable hand contains metal wires in the fingers which can be set it different poses if you want to take pictures of the hand. The non-posable hand doesn’t contain any metal wires which means that it’s set it a fixed position. It can be a little bit easier to handle if you are a beginner since you can bend and turn the nails more while you are working.
