Hi my name is Nathalie, or Nattis as most people call me .
I’m 37 years old and have been doing nails for the past three years so I’m kind of a late bloomer as the say 😉 Today I have my own salon and is a proud member of the Moonflair content crew ❤️
Most of my adult life I’ve been working in the family business, a lokal lampshop, but I have always been the creative type and when I “found” nails it was pure love!
BUT… as I was making plans and getting ready to start my new life I found that the people around me was not as understanding and supportive as I thought they would be. My enthusiasm was often met with skepticism and negativity and that is what I wanna talk to you about today.
I have always been a stubborn person, a bit to stubborn if you ask my parents 😉
So when I set my mind to something I’m not gonna let anyone tell me I can’t do it.
But when all I heard was: “Your hobby shouldn’t be your work” and “Can you really make a living out of filing nails all day?” I gotta tell you, my confidence was shaken. People had a lot to say about my choice to leave a steady job, especially my family business as I think most of them assumed I would be taking over at some point, and going off on my own, starting from scratch and building something for me.
There was a lot of “good advice” thrown at me (even though I did not ask for it), asking if I really understood how hard it would be to run my own business and that I should make the smart choice and stay with the safe job… they obviously don’t know me at all 😜
Something I realized is that people have a quite narrow view of the nail industry, once you’re in it you see how huge it really is and how endless the possibilities are! Nails can be a hobby, yes! But it can also be a superstar career and everything in between! So when these people gave me their “well meant” advice they didn’t have the whole picture and it just goes to show that only you can decide what is right for you and only you can make that happen!
I’ve learned that people are scared. Scared of going after their dreams, of letting go of what the have to reach for something more and it makes them uncomfortable when they see someone willing to do just that because it shows them that it can be done, they just don’t have what it takes or is to scared to find out.
Society sometimes force us to make the smart choice, but is that always the right one? 😘
We get so caught up with all the responsibilities and ideas of a picture-perfect life that we forget our own potential and what truly makes us happy!
As you probably figured out by now I went for it anyway and I thank my lucky star for that every day! I didn’t let the nay-sayers put me down and I thought “well… if I fail at least I’ll go down with a smile on my face doing what I love!”
Life doesn’t end if you fail, you just pick your self up and try again 💪
My point with all of this is: Don’t let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do! Don’t let the doubters take away your passion and if you feel in your heart that it’s right then it IS right! Just go for it, you’ll regret it if you didn’t at least try!
And remember that you are not alone, there is a whole world full of beautiful people out there that you can take inspiration and strength from, especially the amazing girls in the Moonflair content crew!
We are all here to support you and we are only a DM away ❤️
Hugs and kisses!
