How to get your clients to choose Swarovski on their nails… and get them addicted
My name is Helene and I’m one of the girls in Moonflair content crew. I have been doing nails since 2008 and work at a nail salon with other nail designers as a team. In the beginning of my career I was doing french nails every day, all day the first 5 years. So the result of that is – I’m good at french mani 😉 …and I learned how to get my clients to choose something else over time and how to ease them into choosing nail art and Swarovski Crystals. Today I do a lot of nail art and Swarovski placement.
Well when you see the common nail salon today, is not the same as before of course! So it’s easier to make your clients choose something extra today, then it was before. But I have some tips and tricks up my sleeve to help you, so you can use more crystals in your salon.
1. Wear it yourself!
My clients always ask me: Can I see your nails? Because they know I always have something extra, and maybe they see something they want themselves. Over time you can also achieve this, if you start showing of your nails, talking about them and wear a little extra bling.
2. Make your crystals stay as long as possible on your client’s nails.
Do some research, check out tips on how to attach crystals here in the Swarovski guide on Monnfaire.se, train yourself, practice and maybe attend a workshop on how to place crystals so they last. The clients sometimes think the crystals will fall of and get messy by the time they get their refill. So, when you are good at getting your crystals to stick, your clients get happy and will choose it again and again. But always make sure that the client understands that the crystals are more exposed and do stick out from the nail, so something can happen. But most likely they will stay until next time they see you.
3. Expose them to crystals everywhere!
Post nails with crystals on social media. Use your Facebook page and Instagram account to expose your clients. Also show pictures of clients that are coming back after 4 weeks where all of the crystals or most of them are still attached to their nails. Show your Swarovski on Instastory if you have some new colors in and so on. Maybe you can make a little book with pictures of your work in the waiting area in your salon, some posters maybe or a tablet/pad/small TV that have a slideshow of pictures of your work and crystals.
4. Keep a price list or nail art list nearby the working station.
In the salon I work in we noticed that after we placed a list of possible nail art with approximately prices, we do more nail art and Swarovski placement. Clients read it while I’m working on their nails, they ask more about nail art, we talk more about it and over time they choose more and more nail art. And it helps to have a price for what it approximately costs because most of the clients think it cost more. Or they don’t know what it will cost, and it’s not a issue when they are going to pay for the service. And when you register it you can put in every cost separately, then the clients will see how much everything cost. And it is also easier for you to charge the correct price of what it really costs. Instead of registering the whole service or just all of the nail art under one amount.
5. Always ask the client at the end of the service, or during: Do you want some Swarovski today?
If they are in doubt, you say: Oh, I got some new crystals! Let’s have a look, shall we? Or you can say: We can just have a look if you want? They are so pretty! Then you show that you have all the small sizes, but you take out the biggest one because that shines more, the colors show the best and they really enchant the client! So even if the client are not having crystals that day, they are maybe thinking of having it the next time! Or they choose some now even though they didn’t plan to have it, and maybe they even thinking of what color the want at the next refill! 😉
And eventually they say like one of my 70 year old clients who have been with me for ten years, and was quite difficult to turn… And i quote:
“Before I was scared of crystals, but now i think – They are too beautiful, not to wear! So I don’t care what other people think or say. I just have to have them!”
If you follow my 5 tricks, then maybe you are so lucky to get your clients addicted to Swarovski’s like my clients are. And I included! 😉
We just HAVE TO HAVE THAT BLING!
