Use a sizing kit

What’s a sizing kit and why should you use it?

A sizing kit is a good option if you would rather the customer choose for themselves which tips are best suited! That way, you know right away that your customer likes the fit and there is no possibility the measurements to be wrong. Remember to ask the customer to keep in mind that there should be room for a glue tab or glue only.

A sizing kit you can easily do yourself with a card (here you can choose a nice print or your logo for example) and then you attach the sizes you have and the shapes you have discussed and mark what size each tip is. We recommend that you try to keep the package as thin and flat as possible, preferably postcard size, so that you can easily send it to the customer without too much extra cost.

Pricing!

Price is always hard to set, there are so many factors that come into play! But here are some things to keep in mind:

• What does the market look like? – What price are the “competitors“ at? Find some examples to compare with. For example: Store bought press ons vs. some other press ons shops in your area.

• Hourly wage – How long does it take for you to make a “standard“ set? Take, for example, a French manicure, which is a common request. When you have an estimated time, you will be able to calculate what you get in hourly wages for a set.

• The cost of materials – Here you need to calculate approximately how much it will cost you in products to make a set. It can be difficult but start with what is easy to count! For example, 1 bag of tips may give you 40 press ons sets because some have the same size on several nails. What do you package in and what does it cost per set? What else does the customer get in the package? Do they get file, bamboo stick, glue, gluetabs? Or do you want to offer it separately? and then you put a small amount for gel or acrylic products

•  The price list – When you have a price for a “standard set” such as a color / French manicure, you start from it and make a menu with “add ons“. Decide what to include and what you want separately. For example, a manicure kit with file, bamboo stick, glue / gluetabs, extra design, extra crystals, a sizing kit where could test size and shape, etc. We recommend always putting the shipping separately as it will change depending on where you are shipping to.

Now that you know a few different factors to consider, you can start calculating which price will suit you and your customers!
